Small RIB after treatment

NewBlue1

Mike Samuelson’s Comments

We have used the wash & cleaner/polish on 2 of our RIBs. The first (Beryl) was retubed with new Henshaw hypalon tubes 2 years ago; she is pretty heavily used throughout the year and has begun to fade quite badly. Picture 1 is before any treatment; picture 2 shows after 1 complete treatment on all bar the front starboard panel which has had a 2nd treatment. As you can see there is not a lot of difference between the before and after photos for most of the tubing although the 2nd treated panel is definitely an improvement. The 4th photo (NewBlue) is the 2nd RIB we have treated. Its a 3 year old Avon which has not been exposed to the weather quite as much. Unfortunately I was not able to take a before photo, however there is little doubt that the single treatment has enhanced the appearance significantly.

So, does it work? I think that our experience reinforces your thoughts that early treatment is essential. A single treatment of tubes that have started to fade makes little lasting difference - a 2nd or 3rd treatment might possibly make more difference. It certainly appears to enhance tubes that are only slightly faded. One observation though - the tubes were very slippery after treatment.
